René Redzepi Wants You For NOMA Opening Night

We love René Redzepi, his pronunciation of “langoustines” is pure joy and the anticipation for the new NOMA restaurant, opening in 2018 is one of the biggest events the food world has waited for since he, well, closed the harborside warehouse which won three Michelin stars and World’s best restaurant four times.

When it was announced that you could pre-book your place to dine at the new restaurant, it sold out in 24 hours and there were 35,000 people put on the waiting list… that’s about a 2 year wait if you think about it. So what would you do to get a place for the open evening? Well, René and his team have teamed up with Omaze to give you a chance to grab a seat at one of the most exclusive events this side of Y2K. (For our younger readers, that was a huge evening… our editor spent his at a motorway service station. #planning.)

As described by Omaze on their site, the giveaway includes, “You and a friend will be among the first people in the world to dine at the new noma and experience its first menu during the winter season, which will be a celebration of Scandinavian seafood. But that’s not all—you’ll also return to noma the next morning for coffee with the team and an exclusive tour of its acclaimed fermentation lab and test kitchen, where you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at the future of food. Velbekomme! (That’s bon appétit in Danish.) Flights and accommodation included.

Or for those that like things in bullet points…

  • Enjoy dinner at the highly anticipated opening of the new noma
  • Return the next day for coffee with the NOMA team and experience a behind-the-scenes tour of NOMA’s fermentation lab and test kitchen
  • Get flown to Copenhagen and put up in a 4-star hotel

So what’s in it for René and you? It is all in aid of the charity, MAD. (Danish for “food”) MAD is a nonprofit dedicated to bringing together a global food community with an appetite for change. Food is inseparable from some of the most pressing global challenges of our time, and MAD’s focus is to help inspire, educate, and find creative solutions that make a real and sustainable difference in restaurants, communities, and the world at large. MAD is preparing the restaurant community as leaders in building a better, healthier, more sustainable, and more delicious future.

What started as a 2 day symposium has turned into a global food movement and the team at NOMA are opening the doors for the lucky winners to see what is one of the most impressive culinary examples of genius and all the team working towards gastronomic perfection.

Like the competition which included Jennifer Lawrence and a wine tour, all you have to do to win is visit the Omaze site… you know what, just listen to René and enter!
